Hugh Withycombe is a skilled maker and restorer who is passionate about  hand-made instruments. Hugh's own instruments are played in Australia, Europe and North America.  He also enjoys working with musicians to explore and maximise the tonal potential of their existing instruments.

Hugh has a special interest in cellos.

Hugh graduated from Newark International Violin Making School and worked in London before establishing his own workshop in Canberra in 2003.  Hugh is vice president of the Australian Violin Makers Association and deputy chair of Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres.
